Leadership

"A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way" (John C. Maxwell).

leader

Doug Kendig

Elder

Doug and his wife, Linda, can best be described as "grounded in the Word." Faithfulness to the Lord's calling has led him from Oregon, to Alberta, and gratefully to British Columbia. Parents of three children and currently raising two of their five grandchildren, Doug and Linda's treasure is children. Doug, as principle, and Linda, as a master teacher, were involved with Shuswap Christian School from 1985 to it's closing in 2002. Doug's eldership and Linda's work as Sunday School teacher have extended their gifts of caring, love, knowledge and faithfulness to both our church family and the Salmon Arm community.

Maurice Taylor

Deacon

Maurice was born in England and immigrated to BC with his family when he was six. Marie was born and raised in BC. They have seven adult children and many more "children" who call them mom and dad. Maurice was a trained psychiatric nurse, but has mostly been self-employed alongside his friend and wife Marie in family owned businesses. They moved from BC to Saskatchewan in 1979 where they worked with Western Christian College. This was a time of joy in their lives as they opened their home and their hearts to share their love of Jesus with teens and young adults. They first moved to Salmon Arm in 1993, although their travels have taken them to live in Yellowknife and Edmonton and finally back to Salmon Arm in 2007. They have been an integral part of our congregation ever since. Maurice and Marie have an open door policy and have been faithful in showing hospitality and sharing all that they have with others. You will always find a hot pot of tea on the table or a pot of soup on the stove to be shared. God has gifted this couple with a love for the lost and a love for those often overlooked by others.

leader

Gordon Parmenter

Elder

Gordon, along with his wife, Peggy, and are faithful followers of the Lord. The love of the Lord shines through them and positively impacts those around them. Born in California (Peggy in Texas) the Lord led them first to Arizona, and then to Canada. Gordon has worked in a variety of jobs -- from executive to pig farmer -- but the one that has provided them with the greatest joy is parenting. Gordon and Peggy have four children, numerous grandchildren and a host of foster kids who have benefited from their godly home and teachings. We are blessed to be part of Gordon's "flock", benefiting from his teaching, wisdom and example.

leader

Paul Derkach

Teacher

Paul Derkach moved to Salmon Arm from Brandon Manitoba over twenty years ago with his wife and three daughters. He started two local businesses; Shuswap Window Cleaning and Sampson Soaps. He currently drives for city transit and loves spending time with his children and grandchildren. Paul has a deep yearning for God and also meets with many members and non-members throughout the week delving into God's word. We are blessed to have Paul's "heart of a servant" attitude and his zeal for the Lord.
